I have a N tractor. Looked on left side next to oil filter and the serial number (the best I could make out) indicated a N T 9027 or N I 9027. I didn't see a prefix of 8 or 9. Is the unit a 8 or 9N? Thanks for the help.

I would believe you have a serial # of _N19027 with the first # missing. Actually, the serial #'s were hand stamped and some were quite light on the hammering end. With the faint # and years of rust, paint scratches & etc. the number would be hard to see. I would go to some of the other site that have identifing help and see what the first # should be. I believe john smith has a pretty good site for this , Any help on the site?

This should help you figure out if it's an 8N or a 9N/2N. Biggest giveaway is the trans. 3 spd = 9N/2N, 4 spd = 8N.
