I see a lot of information in Archives about 8N hydralics not holding the arms up when the motor is not running or clutch is out. Mine drops real fast. Also I just got through overhauling my motor and I have an oil leak coming out of the hole in the bell houseing area(Cotter Pin hole) I did put new oil seals in on the crank, does it take a little while to seat, or do I have a bad installation or seal? I would guess It is something I did or a defective seal...not neat.
I guess I will just have to live with the drip. Once I get the lift fixed I will have a "like new" tractor to do the farm work with.

If your 3 point drops quickly unless the pto is on and the clutch engaged, you probably need to rebuild (replace rings and gaskets) the hydraulic ram cylinder. Pull the right circular inspection plate on the side of the transmission and work your hydraulics up and down. Watch where the fluid is leaking from. This will give you clues as to what is going on. If you rebuilt the engine, this will be a cake walk. Read the archives, get the manual. Do it. Rings and gaskets should be under 5 USD. If you have specific questions, ask again. There's always someone around to offer help. Good luck .
