Overhauling 8N motor and block is full of rust,
what is the best way to clean and preserve until
I get the old gal running again ? Hate to put that new radiator back on with all that gunk in it. Thanks for the tips on pulling that stubborn steering wheel, worked great.

I redid an 8N a while back and it was the same way. I had to replace the radiator and the water pump. While the pump was off, I took the drains out and presure washed the engine and stuck the nozzle in every place I could find. Lots of stuff came out of every where. Red water! Then when I put it back together, I used some radiator/cooling cleaner that I got at NAPA. I let the tractor run for about 2 hours with that stuff in it at about 1200 RPM. I put a t-shirt over the front of the radiator to make sure it got hot, but not too hot. Then I flushed it with a hose til the water ran clear. Put in antifreeze and water mix and it has had no problems. Might be other ways, but that is what I did with the tools at hand.
