After discing for 7hrs Sat, I had enough and parked my 8N. Sun. AM I got an early start and finished up the side field, about 3 hrs worth. While heading to the last and smallest field the 8N quit firing on cylinders 3&4. The engine is newly re-built(2 months). It is a front mount dist. I have spark at all cylinders although I am not convinced it is a "hot" spark. I put new points, plugs, wires, rotor, and dist. cap all to no avail. It has been converted to 12 volts. It has a 6 volt coil and has 2 resistors. Actually
a OEM ballast resistor/terminal block and an 12 volt to 6 volt reducer(RU-100). Could the coil be my culprit? It seems to be about the only thing left I hav'nt shotguned. The coil did not seem unusually hotter than normal. But from the archives I has seen that they are pretty suspect creatures.
Question 2: Also the lift works great for about 2 hrs and then becomes quite sluggish in performance and then will stick in the upright Position. I adjusted the quadrant range and it seemed to help but that is when the tractor quit running well. It would work when the lift had no implement on it, but not when it had weight on it. After sitting and letting it cool for 30 min or there-bouts it would work again for a little while. Thanks in advance for your help.

I weak coil will lose spark to all cylinders not just a couple, I don't think that's the problem. Have you retorqued the head bolts and the manifold bolts since your rebuild? After it gets hot, things swell and change shape. You may be losing compression that way, or losing air/fuel mixture at the manifold. HTH Steve 8N 169302
