I have a hasp for a 1/2 pint jar for my Harco air cleaner. What kind of jar fits this? A half-pint mason jar?

I hate to ship a jar by itself. Something has to come in a jar that fits this. Skippy? (no, plastic)

I can still remember my Granddad's 8N I drove as a
boy. He had a Harco air cleaner on it and it was always dry. A lot of bugs and dust but no oil. I have one on my 8N but the jar and lid are missing.

I understood the oil goes in the can attached to the bottom of the air cleaner. The jar is a "pre-cleaner" in which dust settles to help keep the aircleaner clean for a longer period of time...Is this correct?

Kerr jar, not Mason. Go to the neighbors and barrow a jar of jam....chuckle chuckle.

Mine is a Kerr jar. don't know what was in it before the tractor got it, but it's got oil in it now.

Oil in it? I thought they were supposed to run dry?

That is the purpose of the jar is a Pre-air cleaner. The oil holds the dust/dirt form entering the next filter(large filter with oil in it)just before it enters the carb.
Correct me if I'm wrong?

I am pretty sure I've read references to "dumping the dust" out of these things every time you use the tractor, implying that they pick up dust and are run dry.

Here's a pic from Randall(AL) regarding his.

Also there's one pictured at John Smith's 8N page, but I can't tell if it has oil in it or not.

It is real hard to see, BUT John has a little GREEN tractor in his air cleaner jar. Seems his 8N just sucked up and shrank some one of those Green Tractors. He has been so busy having FUN with his 8N that he hasn't had time to "clean" out the jar.

BIG GRIN!!!
