I've seen a bunch of messages on pulling w/N's.

Maybe I need lesson here but it's my understanding the N tractors were designed to plow. Because of the hitch configuration a great deal of the traction was generated by the plow pushing down on the tractor. If this is the case how can you expect the N's to do well pulling?

That is why some N owners like pulling in stock tractor pulls. Any person can pull with a big 6 ton 95 Hp tractor, that takes no effort. However, the N's present a challenge that can bring great satisfaction to the person who takes the time to tune the engine for max HP, mount just the right tires, and hold the tongue properly in the mouth for just the right pulling effect. When you can make an underdog sing to a victory, you've accomplished something.

There's an oft-repeated anecdote concerning a big pulling contest years ago, where the new Ford-Ferguson was matched drawbar to drawbar with a big(pick one: green, red, orange)conventional tractor. When the flag dropped, the throttles were pulled down, and the Ferguson operator raised his three-point, lifting the larger tractor's rear wheel off the grounb, thus winning the contest. Don't know if it's true, but it makes a point...
