Another question on poor brakes on a 2N. I have replaced the linings but have not taken the glaze from the drum. Has anyone tried sandblasting instead of grinding with a hand grinder? Roger

Roger..... ..I usually "skuff" my brake drum surfaces with sandpaper by hand. Definately DO NOT hand grinder them. I suppose if you already had a sandblaster of somesorts where you couldn't get the sand in the wheelbearings, that would work. It only takes a couple of stops to polish off the new surfaces anyways.

I used to "sandblast" the brake disks used on jet airplanes after a RTO. Thats Rejected Take Off, which means that the pilot had some reason to slow down and stop from over 200 mph take-off speed before the end of the runway. Sometimes the brakes would get so hot that they would melt the tires and rims. And all the firetrucks would come running. Exciting times..... ..Dell
