Al..... .by going back to the guy that sold you the 8 volt battery and demanding an 8 volt regulator. Guess what? Used to be, back in the olden times, you could get a voltage regulator adjusted on a special "test bench" and maybe get it adjusted for 9 volts but you're pushing your 6 volt generator to an early grave. Now-a-days, your lucky to even find somebody that knows what that is. They just want to sell you a new regulator, which by the way is cheeper to do than to adjust a mechanical regulator. The 8 volt battery, was Detroits "band-aid" to starting higher compression V8's in the early 50s. They were saved by the development of solid state diodes usable in lightweight, efficent 12 volt alternators. I once worked on a highway patrol car two-way radio that had a 12 volt alternator the size of a gallon bucket and a stack of seleinum rectifiers the size of dictionary. Trust me, todays 12 volt alternators are much more efficent and reliable. You might want to check the "archives" at the top of this most excellent N-Board, search "8 volts" for example. Remember, for 6 volt N-Tractor systems, "clean, bright, and tight" is the mantra..... .Dell
