I was at a neighbors last night looing through his tractor grave yard. (He has a 2N that was burned and I thought I might salvage the grill) He showed me his unknown tractor. The engine is a 4 cly, but it is made up of two, 2 cly cast blocks bolted together (front to back) The only markings we can find are "R E" anyone have a clue as to what it is? Thanks,

Case also used the same configuration as Minneapolis with two cylinders cast into each cylinder block, bolted to a one piece crankcase. They came in four- or six-cylinder configurations. Another company was Buda, but I don't think any of their engines were used in tractors.

I have a calendar of old tractors that talked about an engine with "separately cast cylinders" but then indicated that it was two cylinders in each casting. Think it was a Minneapolis-Moline. You might ask your question on the MM board and see if they can help.
