OK, I have taken the RH inspection plate off and took a look while the hyraulics were up and I had weight on the lift. Just a few drops of oil out of the lift piston. Couldn't see any other leaks. Zane mentioned to check the relief valve with my finger for pressure, I couldn't find this valve????? As soon as I push in the clutch, down goes the arms. Any Ideas? Another thing, I just overhauled the motor on this old girl and I still have a miss(listening at the exhaust) I have new wires, plugs, and spark at each plug. Starts great, I think I need to rebuild the governor, I only get an increase in RPM's when the throttle is at 3/4. Anything will help. Thanks.

You should replace the pressure relief valve You can get to it by removing the round inspection plate on the left side of the tractor that has the pto shifter mounted on it. It is pretty straight forward when remounting the pto shifter into it's slot when reassembling.

The relief valve will be under the oil on the back of the hydraulic pump and just under the pto shaft. It is a tapered pipe thread into the pumphousing and can be removed and replace wity an 11/16th inch boxed end wrench. Sometimes it is necessary to cut the wrench off short enough to let it be turned under the pto shaft to remove and replace the valve. It can be done a lot easier if the PTO is removed but this is not really necessary if you have the right tool.

If you should remove the pto to get to the relief valve you should drain the oil from the lift before removeing it. There will be about 4 gallons of oil if only the hydraulic oil drain is opened. It takes 5 gallons if all the 3 drains are opened and it is completely drained. If the oil is dirty or milky looking it should be replaced.

Rick..... ....the pressure relief valve is down under all the oil, at the bottom of the pump. It also contains a "check valve" which I suspect is not closing therefore allowing your hydraulics to drop when the clutch stops the PTO from running the hydraulic pump. Ya' really need to get an I&T FO-4 repair manual, tells ya' all about it, $25 cheep, get one!!!..... Dell
