Zane,
Back on January 07, 1999 you wrote "On some of the very early pumps their was a longer pressure relief valve than the later ones and it had to be removed to clear but I don't think you are likely to encounter one of those because the relief valve is one of the parts that must be replaced periodically. Zane"
How can you tell? I am trying to remove my pump and I have the lift cover off, the PTO shaft removed, the 9 cap screws removed and the darn thing still won't come down. I can't hardly believe how stuck some parts can be on this old tractor. Can you steer me in the right direction so I don't break anything else. Thanks in advance!

Do you have the gasket seal broken loose on the pump to the housing?

What model tractor do you have? The 9N and 2N have a double wish bone control rods that must be disengaged fromt he pump control valve T or you will break it when you drop the pump out. If it is a 9N or 2N you will have to remove both the side inspection plates so that you can pull the two rods apart in order to release the T on the control valve. Look up into the oil drain hole in the pump and you will be able to see the "T" that I am talking about.
