My 52 8N kicked right over on the 2nd crank and then died. I now show no discharge on the amp guage when I turn on the key. Engine turns overbut will not start. Checked the key it shows to be working, seems fine. Any suggestions

Have you check the ignition switch?

If you have the lower full scale ammeter (50) amps, then you should see a slight discharge flicker when you turn the engine over. This is from approximately 2 - 3 amps going to ground through the points as they open and close. Probably not too visible if you have one of those 80 amp meters. If you do not have the discharge flicker then someting is open. Check the coil at the input with a voltmeter and then the output (the wire that goes to the points in the dist.
The coil could be open or the points destroyed. Wire broken goint to the points...etc...

It might help if I explain what you should see at the input and output of the coil...On the input of the coil (sidemount only) 6 volts with the points open or closed. on the distributor side of the coil, 6 volts with the points open and 0 (Zero) volts with the points closed.
