So, did we ever find out if there was a production 7N and if there is really a 7N Owner's Manual, or is this the beginning of another rural legend? If there was one, I wonder what it would be worth?

Hey Bob, how's it goin-

Yeah, there actually was a "7N" Ford tractor, produced as the "7NX" in 1945. There were not many produced, and the prototypes assembled were more-or-less test mules. The "7NX" became the 8N in 1947. There is a short blurb about the 7N in Leffingwell's excellent book "Ford Farm Tractors," chapt. 12, pg. 163 (and a photo on pg.164).

I would be surprised if there were any to be found, but it would be cool, wouldn't it? As far as a 7N Owners Manual- I don't think so.

Dan, I'm the poster from the previous page. I haven't seen the tractor yet but I'm told about a 7N with a manual. I'm taking it with the ol' grain of salt until I see it for sure but they made a few and I guess they could be somewhere, like one near me. Nobody seems to know what they might be worth. Does a person pay $1,000 for an old tractor or $10,000 for a rare prototype? Who knows but I intend to find out. Pete

By all means, keep us posted. If this puppy exists, it would be really neat to see it. Imagine if you had the last 2N produced, the first 8N produced and something in between...?

Just imagine Bob when you have that estate sale and people find that dually Ford truck parked on top of the Farmall and 8N parts. Maybe that is what starts these so called legends. Can you imagine some bubba buying the whole lot and trying to assemble that mess into a tractor? He might call it an 8Nall
