Before it gets cold, I need some information. Seems like I might have some condensation in the steering box, which freezes up when it gets cold, and I can only turn one way. I have looked at the steering box, and the book, but do not see a drain plug. Found a filler plug on top, but was unable to run a tube down to the bottom to pull the water out. Aside from keeping it in a warm building, or only turning one way, (yes, I have been reading this for awhile) anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for all the good information here on the board. Hope someone can help with this.

What you have is a damaged top thrust bearing on the steering sector shaft if you can turn it to the right but not to the left.

You will have to go into the steering box to make the repairs. Replace the thrust bearings with the metal ones and not the Nylon replacement things.

Fill the gear box with grease and install a grease fitting in the fill hole after it is rebuilt and pump in all it will hold. The reason the top bearing always fails is that the oil leaks out of the sector shafts and leaves the top bearing high and dry. The grease will not leak out

Recently rebuilt a 3000 steering box with similar problem. Bearings top and bottom on steering shaft were ruined as was the race on the steering shaft and outer races. Had to replace steering shaft complete and bearings and races.Paid nearly 100 for just thrust bearings and races at new holland, these were the metal type. Did not even ask about the steering shaft price there. Found aftermarket supplier with much better prices to complete rebuilt. Gear oil is what is supposed to go into the steering box. I know they nearly all leak but this is the only thing that will consistently keep these bearings and gears lubed.Grease sticks to the sides, especially in a cold climate. I did find a very thick gear oil that is used in some brushcutter gearboxes that seems to leak less that 90 wt. gearoil. This is usually better than grease.
