I'm going to add a 20' x 24' extension to my pole barn before cold weather sets in - so I spent all day today moving dirt from that area with my 8N and a scoop. I can't remember a day when I've had so much fun (fishing maybe?). Nothing complicated, just simple dirt work, and a great way to spend a day!

Sam,
You've got a great looking N there. Wish mine looked that good. I've been doing some dirt work down here in Houston also. I've been moving dirt from a almost dried up pond to where I'm planning on putting in a road to a future pole barn/stables. I've only spent about four hours moving dirt and I'm amaized how much dirt I've moved with that little tractor. I've covered about 80 feet or so and raised it about 6 inches. Next step is to have crushed concrete, crushed asphalt, gravel or something hauled in to finish it off. Just using the dirt to gain some height for the road.
Take care of that N.

Great looking 8n. I also am building a garage in the spring. However i get to dig the footings with a front end loader. Do you have a better way to dig footings? 12 inches wide by 28 inches deep here in Michigan. I was thinking about trying a 2 bottom plow to get started and then finish by hand. Do they sell anything a little more effective? Happy days of motoring to you. Thanks, paul

Paul - Here are some pictures I posted of a project I did several weeks ago. By shortening the top link all the way, I was able to dig a good trench with the front blade of a two bottom plow. This worked real well for me, and I was able to run this 4" water pipe to my pond. I could dig down about 18" at the most this way, which wouldn't be enough for your concrete footing, but it would be a good start. Good luck with your project.

Nice looking tractor Sam,(just the way I pictured it) by the way you don't look like the way I pictured you.

Thanks. As re appearances, I'm guessing that most of the folks on this board, with some exceptions, are kind of old, kind of white, and kind of overweight. (I fit all three) After all, we're interested in tractors that were made between 1939 and 1952.

Your right, I fit all three too, if only we knew then what we know now. Course I'm at the age now, that I can finally get to put it all together, now trying to remember where I put it is the question now. :>(

If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't even have survived high school. I once threw a rooster in a pen containing a couple of hundred pullets, and it killed him, too. Well, enough of that. . .
