HOW DO YOU GET THE STARTER BACK ON A 1948 8N TRACTOR? MY STARTER WILL GO ALMOST ALL THE WAY IN BUT WILL NOT DROP DOWN RIGHT SO I GET GET THE TWO BOLTS BACK IN IT. ITS LIKE IT STUCK ON SOME THING . IS THERE A TRICK FOR GETING THE STARTER BACK IN AND BOLTED UP?

Not sure about the extent of the problem, but I found that the bolt that secures the tin strip with covers the access holes up at the top of the armeture would hold the entire unit away from the block. This would prevent correct alignment, although it could be forced close. The cure was to reverse the tin strip of course, but it probably caused the bendix failure originally.
