i own a lawn company and i want to buy a tractor and get into bush hogging. i've been shopping around and one place has suggested i buy a "gasoline" tractor instead of a "diesel" tractor to save a couple thousand dollars. want would you suggest and why.

thank you

Rolland, If it was me, I would get a diesel. I think the diesel has more power and torque and I like them better. Good luck, TractorMike

That is an easy question. I would go for the Diesel tractor, unless you want to fill up with gas all the time. The couple extra thousand spent will be worth it in the long run to you, and it will have much better resale value. I have run both for years and both will do the job, but the Diesel is much more fuel efficient, more heavy duty, and easier to work on.

Diesel.

Generally a heavier duty tractor. I might suggest a JD4020, or 4010. Or, a bit smaller, a 3010. Also look at IH 666 to 1086. Six and seven hundred series may work the best. I'd suggest a Ford, but I am not too familiar with Fords newer than 1947.

Get a Diesel for a business. They run cool, reliable, heavy duty and they love to be run flat out all day. They also get better mileage than a gas. Suggest a Ford 1000 series, like a 2000 or 3000 3 cylinder. Great utility tractor. My $.02
