My 8N has no pivoting hardware installed on the bottom. I've asked before and checked the archives. The lower pivots have been described as 'stud', 'button', and 5/16X24 bolts. Do these devices attach to the dog leg and the grill slips over them or the other way, the pins attach to the grill and slip into the holes in the dog legs.
Picture would help. Parts book isn't clear.

Ray, My '48 8N has the 'studs' riveted from the backside of the dogleg inside reinforcement. Looks like it was installed before the reinforcement was attached/spotwelded to the dogleg. This same reinforcement is what strengthens the lower dogleg attachment bolt area. The studs are about 5/16" diameter and 1/2" long. The studs fit into the holes in the grill. I believe this to be an original tractor. I have what I believe to be another original grill and it is like the one on my 8N. I believe starting with the NAA they used shouldered bolts riveted or welded to the dogleg in the same basic configuration.
I can take pics and email you direct but have no server to post the pics.

Ray here is a photo of my lower 48 dog leg. It's not too clear but you can see the hole with the nut inside. It is near the bottom of the dog leg. The one in red is the dog leg to frame bolt.

Ray, on my Jubilee which is probably the same setup the pins are in the doglegs and the grill just has the holes in it. If i remember correctly you have to take one bolt loose in the bottom of the dogleg and pull it over a little to get the grill to fit in between and for the pins to slip into the holes.Hope i didn`t confuse ya.
