Worked outside today in the swirling snow splitting wood and stacking it. Looked over and saw the 9N Whimpster sitting there under the tarp, snow building up on it and sliding down the sides.

Looks like it's that time to put the 9N away for the winter. Snow is flying, today we turned the corner from a beautiful indian summer...to what looks like the 40 degrees and rain and snow mix.

I think tha winter is a settin in. But as they say up here in this neck of the woods: "hard tellin, not knowin.."

thanks for the ride this season...had a blast restoring the ol' girl, couldn't have done it without you...and the Whimpster is sitting mighty proud. Whimpy the Winder Dog must be proud too.

Can't wait to fire her up for the last time this year, and pull her out of the shed next summer. oh what a season! learned A LOT that I do know.

This winter it's the 850 sheet metal...next spring the chassis and minor rebuild. I think I caught the fever...two tractors in one year? who would have guessed. 9N'er

I can't beleive your going to put it away for the winter. Ilove to go out after a fresh snow fall and put new tire tracks in the snow with my 8n. Maby some of us N nuts are a little nuttier than others. Glenn

Before you put them in hibernation for the season, make sure you got enough of the green stuff in the radiators and the blocks. I know, I know, this is a no brainer, but I'll bet at least one of us overlooked it. And 9N'er, just because you're putting the Whimpster away for the winter doesn't mean you have to stop corresponding. ;-)
Like Michael, snow and freezing weather isn't a big issue where I live, but I sure am going to miss the green fields and leaves on the trees.

Make sure to check for water in the transmission/hydraulics, too, especially if your N stays outdoors all summer. I'm generally change out both engine and hytrans lubricants, even though mine stays in the shed when not in use, and works all winter.

THATS what I hate about living in Az. It never gets cold enough to put your tractors away. I did get in two cords of firewood this week.----Michael

Not sure where your located but the weather here in Tennessee was a nice 80 degrees today. I still have more work to do around here before I store my 8N for the winter. Gotta love Tennessee in the Fall the colors are beautiful Stay warm.

Like Mike I have a little Deere with a blower for snow duty, but my 51 8N doesn't get a rest this winter. The sheet metal is getting repaired and painted and the rest is getting some of Zanes special paint remover prior to going into the shed for replacement of all the seals and gaskets and a quick look at the hydraulics before refreshing the red. I hope I don't get quite as involved as you did with the 9N, but you never know - projects can get a life of their own sometimes. Keep warm - Paul

Your right about that. It won't be long until winter arrives for sure. Finished disking in two acres of winter wheat for ground cover yesterday with the Jubilee. Couldn't put her away all dirty, so I washed her and dried her down and put her away all nice and clean until next year. Won't use her to clear snow from the drive, cause I've got the snow blower all set up on the Deere and ready to go. Did have to use the Jubilee to pull the JD out of the ditch year before last when I ended up in the ditch and couldn't get out, but other than that, she stays in the barn all winter and waits for spring.
