I am looking for a source for the socket ends that screw onto the Throttle Control Rod on the 8N. This is the rod that runs from the throttle to the governor. I would like to buy the ends separately, if they are good reproductions. Also, what is the Governor Compensating Spring? I have seen some 8N's with the Anchor Plate it attaches to and some without. Thanks!

Phil..... ..if'n none of the below answers snap yer balls, try these.....

Forign Sports Car Parts places, There is a direct metric equivalent to the US 10-32 threaded spring loaded ball socket. Fits Weber Carbs, etc. I got one, one time at the FIAT car dealer. Another time at a BMW dealer. HOWEVER, its show and tell time at the parts counter.

And believe it or not, try the airport. Find an small airplane maintenance hanger, commonly used everywhere on airplanes. Again, its show and tell time. Still 10-32 thread spring loaded ball socket.

Hope this helps..... ...Dell

I picked up the ones I used at my local NAPA dealer, and do believe like Dell said it was for a carb linkage. Don't remember if it was a 10-32 thread or 1/4 inch fine. If I remember right I just found myself a long fine thread bolt cut the end off and stuck the tow ends together with some backing nuts at each socket end to keep um tight.

Phil, If you are a restorer, you won't go for this, but if you just want something to work, here tis:
I took a turn-buckle off screen door rod with the aluminum turn-buckle and put the turn-buckle on the end of the throttle rod. Guess what, the threads fit. The turn-buckle is the kind that is open on two sides so I just spread the gap a little and slipped it over the little ball on the carb. Then I pinched the turn-buckle closed over the ball. Good luck.
