45 miles ESE of Kansas City, there will be no more softwood trees for a few years. The oaks are now beginning to split in half and fall to the ground. It sounds kinda eerie outside with only the hum of the generator and the sound of old wood cracking followed by the sound of shattering ice. My youngest son, the future collegiate, pondered over the weight of the ice and the static stresses of more than the predicted inch of ice... (translated as "dad, can you help me get the inch and a half that's there now, off my car so the tires don't blow, off ?" I just knew that y2k generator was gonna come in handy one of these days. Just wish I didn't have to re-wire the furnace to stay warm tonite. 12.7% part.... with the ice on the west side of the barn freezing the sliding door to the ground, aforementioned son slid under the short 1x12 that the dogs use to get outta the rain, fired up the 2N, and slowly backpeddeled into the door with the blade to bust up the ice till the door would open. This allowed us access to the generator and fuel for it. Promise to post pics tomm. a.m. (what's the easiest way to get em here, btw.....) Thanks, I needed to vent.... jess
