The industrial version was called 9NBN but the one i've seen just has a 9N prefix to the serial#. Moto tug tractors had a BNO prefix. These engines were interchangable so could have been switched.

Are you sure it isn't 9NAN...
The NAN would designate thah it was configured to run on kerosene.

It could be 9NAN # is hard to read. The alum dash, alum trans cover, rear fender bolt holes through axle are closed, etc., all seem to point to 1939 or 1940 9N. Any ideas????

According to the last 5 digits of ser. number it would be a 1940. See the menu on the left side of your screen, click on Serial Numbers under the heading RESEARCH & INFO
See post below as far as other distinguishing characteristics.
If you have an I&T FO-4 manual, it has a picture on page 117 showing the difference in the manifold that OLD GEORGE was refering to.

If it is an NAN it will have have a tank with dual caps for both gas and kero. They were started on gas and then switched over when warm. The manifold was of a slightly different design to heat the air/kero mixture. Other than that I understand them to be the same. Hope this helps.
