Oil Presure Question

My 51 8N was overhauled about 1 yr ago with new valves, rings, etc...

The Oil Pressure on start up at 1/2 -2/3 throtle is at 42 and stays there unless working very hard like hogging for 2 hours or more then goes to 37-38.

If I go up to full throtle the presure goes up to 46-47.

If I got down to about 1/5 throtle the presure goes down to 37-38.

Seems like a lot of folks here have big drops in oil pressure when the N is warmed up. Is that what it should do?...or do I have a problem with a valve?...or are things just fine?

Thanks.

Sal

What weight of oil are you using?

I don't think you have any problem.

Had a 9n once that had the oil pressure line purposely flattened so that oil pressure gage didn't read so high. I guess that it was a field repair. Honest.

I am using 10-30 oil and I have checked out the gauge(s).

Well Sal, if there no seals leaking I don't think that I'd worry about the oil pressure range being on the high end. Probably have great bearings. Right now I am hearing a rod bearing starting to rattle on my 1980 E-150 302 engine. I guess when it starts sounding like a diesel I'll overhaul. It has 300,000 miles on it.
