Kelsey Hayes Wheels on the N

I am derusting a pair of original style 28" rims and noticed a Kelsey-Hayes logo and stamp on the tire side of both rims near the valve hole. There is also a stamp that says '28 X 9.00'. The wheels measure 9" to the base of the bead ridge and 10" to the outer edge of the bead. I know KH supplied other wheels to Ford but this was the first I realized the wheels for the N were out sourced. I have read the arguments both ways about the wheels being zink plated or not. These wheels show no signs of zink plateing but do have what appears to be an original tough gray finish on the outer surfaces and the finish is in extremely good condition. They appear to be identical to some other wheels I have and some I've reworked but these are the first ones in good enough shape to make out any ID marks. I bought these wheels with some other stuff a year ago and can not confirm what they may have come off of. Anyone else ever seen these marks?

Near the Kelsey Hayes it should also have the date made and a Ford script, at least 8N and NAA'S do.

Ray they were "anodized" a lot of the times. This is not the same as plating per se. But a current was passed through a vat of water with the rims and a sacrificial Zn anode in the vat so that a miniscule amount of zinc, a film if you will was left on the rims. This prevented the new metal from rusting until it could be primed. I ran across some old,old primer that was still good in a can and it is like night and day from what we have now.
