I read about the advantages of the NAA piston and oring vs the 3 steel rings. I asked this last week, but I never got all my info. I have an 8N 47 ford, If I change to the NAA piston/oring can I use my existing cylinder? Do I just order the new piston and Oring? I think Don contacted me via email, but didn't give me a price of the conversion. Thanks
Rick

Yes, you can use the original cylinder with the NAA piston, if you can get the scoring honed down to a reasonable level, as others have said.

I don't remember exactly anymore, but when I purchased the NAA piston, I think the piston was about $23 and the O-ring and backup washer were about $3, for about $26 total in parts for a far superior design.

Hope this helps,

Brian D.

Use the old cylinder if it isn't scored too much..

If you can hone the old cylinder and get most of the scoring and pits out of it you can go ahead and reuse it. Make sure you use the leather backup washer on the correct side of the O ring. Remember it is there to "back up" the O ring and protect it from getting cut by the groove in the piston when under load. I beleive this means it would go towards the back of the tractor when installed. Truck
