My tractor-1948 8 N has a bolt in the ratchet hole.I have purchased a ratchet. Anything special to know before taking the bolt out to install it??

Roger..... ....I am going to demostrate my amaizing powers of mind reading and CAUTION you that your front pully MIGHT NOT be able to take the countersunk taper under the ratchet head bolt. Most replacement pulleys are not countersunk and therefore are just bolted to the end of the crankshaft.

Howsomever, if'n ya reallys gotts to remove that current pully bolt and install your ratchet head bolt, heres what you do. Stuff as much 1/4" clothesline rope down one of your sparkplug holes as you can, rope won't hurt metal. Then when you wrench the crankshaft bolt, the plugged up piston will stop the crankshaft from turning wheather removin' or tighten' 150 ft/lbs..... ....Dell
