I can't get my carburetor to idel down. I can take off the Gov. to Carb. linkage and adjusted the idel screw to idel good with my finger holding it down. When I take my finger off it revs back up. I put the gov. to carb. linkage on it and same thing, it revs back up. Do I need to rebuild the carb. or is the Govenor shot? I don't want to rebuild the carb. if the govenor is the problem. And I don't want to bother the Govenor if the Carb. is the problem. What do you guys think?
Thanks;

Rick, When you have the governor linkage disconnected and you "adjusted the idel screw to idel good with my finger holding it down. When I take my finger off it revs back up." - this condition is expected because the vacuum created in the intake manifold will pull air quickly past the throttle flap and force it to a more "open" postition. Remember the throttle has no return spring to force it to the closed position (like your car's throttle) only the governor linkage /quadrant arm position (when attached) will control the throttle flapper angle. I don't think your carb or governor are the problem. You need to properly adjust the linkages.

IMHO, Jim(FL)

I had the same thing. I had to adjust the linkage
from the carb to the gov.

Rick..... ..since yer carb speeds up if'n yer governor is disconnected, that suggests that your problem is not the governor..... ...Dell
