We ended up getting a hacksaw blade between the radius arm and the axle, cut off the heads. This got the arm out of the way. One pounded out, the other we drilled most of the way through, then was able to use the bottom we left to pound against. Man, were those babies tight.

I think I'll change the PTO seal tomorrow.

Arne, Jack the N up and place something SOLID between the bolt and the floor. Jack both sides up. After you've let her set a while soaking put your forces down on the top of the axle. Sure beats trying to pound up; 'sides, now ya got weight of the N helping. If the bolts are broken make sure they are aligned with the holes prior to trying to move them. ray

I had to end up drilling one of mine out. I heated it and used a 50ton press, and it still wouldn't budge. Drilled it out and then what was left of it came out with ease. Good Luck!!!

Are you talking about the bolt thru the axle part? They are hard to get out some times. You might have to use a big hammer to knock it loose then grind off the mushroom and push it out and get a new bolt. Mark H.

carefull on the knockin' of long bolts 'cuz ya'll actually swell and rivet the bolt inside the long hole. Now a hydraulic press, different story.

But first, I'd soak'em good with PB-15, Kroll, LiquidWrench, vinegar, even CokeCola...but NOT WD-40. (I gotts nuttin' again' WD-40, just not the right tool for this job) Then I'd see what some heat could do.

A good machine shop can drill and/or press 'em out as a "court of last resort"..... ...Dell

Thanks Dell for the warning! I have a set I tried to remove hit them once did not move and you can't even turn them with a cheater bar. I did not hit it that hard, learning that some of these old tractors have some realy tight bolts on them. Had to use a 100 ton press to push out a lift arm that the book says you just knock it out. The machine shop said it was tight! I heard the press slowing down growning and people backed up then it popped and came out. No way you could have pounded that out. Mark H
