I am looking at TSC's air compressors for my garage. I want one big enought to sandblast my 8N.

They have a big YELLOW model branded MAX AIR.
It is 208/230V 1PH verticle rated at 18.3CFM @ 100lb. $600. That sounds like more than enought for all that I need. It is about 60 or so gallons (forgot to write that down). I will use it for everything else too, ie. air tools and painting.

Anyone know anything about this unit???

Hi Rasputen,

Sandblasting uses more air than the air tool and spray gun duty most people are likely to be using at home. For blasting, the operating pressure, whether the blaster is a siphon or pressure pot type, and the size of the blaster's nozzle orifice or air jet, determine the amount of air needed. The manufacturer of the blaster you plan to use should be able to provide air supply requirements. Somewhere I have a chart that lists typical air consumption for various sizes of both types of blasters. Unfortunately I can't find it. But, I suspect a little searching on the internet could turn up the information. If you plan anything more than an occasional light blasting project I wouldn't consider anything smaller than a 5HP unit with a good sized receiver tank. If you are planning to do blasting on a routine basis, economy compressors don't tolerate heavy continuous use too well. Hope this helps...Al English

There's a guy right down the street from me selling a JOY screw type compressor driven by a 4 cylinder International Gas motor... Price? Get this..$1000.IT's just like one of the tow behind units, but no toolbox or axle and hitch. Albany NY area if you're interested. I'd buy it but..alas, I already have the tow behind version of the very same compressor.I paid more, too!

Sounds like that it may be a 5 hsp. unit. Should be large enough capacity for everything that you'll operate. We operate a 3 hsp. system in our shop. Still large enough for normal operations. Maybe you can get away with someth'n smaller. You will probably need a 40 amp 230-1-60cy. electrical circuit for the 5 hsp. unit.

I have a 50A 230 I am using for hot tub. Planning on using that (w/hot tub turned OFF). Either or.
It sure is a nice one and I want to have more than I need. Once I have it I will find all sorts of uses. Setting up shop and want to do it right.
Been makin' do in a pole bard for TOO long!
