I have at least one 8N (52) rear rim that is cancered by rust to the point that the valve stem won't hold air(calcium?). I have not taken the wheel apart but suspect the rust may have affected the edges of the center part of the wheel. I can get new after market rims in town as cheap as mail order but no original type rims. But they do not fit as the original rims, they have loops instead of the flange.

Does anyone know of the availabiliy or source of original or new rims that are identical to the originals? Can you buy new/aftermarket wheel center? Are there any turf type tires that will fit the standard rim/wheel size?

Had the same problem.. Once we got the tire off, saw most of the rust was around the valve stem opening.. Cut out the bad area, and welded good metal to cover the damage.. Went 180degrees out, drilled a new valve opening. Cleaned the old out, then wrapped entire rim with duct tape, new tube. etc..... worked..

You can drill a new hole for the valve stem, in a stucturally firm location, and fill the old hole as well as cover the remaining bad areas by welding in new lighter weight stock. A little bondo or JBWeld and paint and Voila they look like new (if they aren't terminal victims of the ol' rust cancer) and only you will know what has been done to them inside. Hah hah HTH

According to my boneyard wrecker, he told me that the old stlye rims are not available, only from tractors that have been dismantled. When inquiring he told me he gets big dollars for them because of their being rare. Actually he wants more dollars for them the FNH dealer for the new rims. I went to another boneyard and he suggested welding new pieces inside to fix.

I agree. I've been told the same thing. In the Indiana area anyhow, old original rims just aint there no more.
