I was just at Smiths 8N page and it looks like my 8N has a 2/9N cyclone air filter (no jar). It also looks like the 8N cyclone setup replaces the door? I also assume the bottom portion of the air filter is different on an 8N? The one I have has a top with two lips that get squeezed together with a clamp.

Anybody want to trade?

Arne

From the pics I've seen, it looks like the cyclone pre-cleaner for 9n/2n mounts up under the hood whereas the 8N version replaces the hood side vent panel.

That's the way it looks to me too, but I am wondering what is inside the hood that hooks the cyclone to the top of the oil bath on the 8N.

I'm not sure because I haven't paid that close attention when I have seen on up close. Maybe Ed Gooding has some literature in his collection about it.

Thanks Jim, I'll check into it.
