Besides buying a new 200 plus dollar gas tank what can be done about rust which gets into the carb and fouls things up? Yes my sediment bowl still works and I installed an inline but it seems to be getting worse. (41 9n for $1350 bought in 1997).

i had the same problem about a month ago and i bought por15 chemicals and have a new tractor now. no more carb problems, filter cleanings just a real nice running tractor. its amazing how much it screwed things up.it wasnt that hard to do either just took afew days .now it has a nice shinny silver coating.

Rick,

I had a similar problem and it turned out I had a big rusty hole in the top of the tank where you could not see it. I soldered a patch on it and sealed the tank using Eastwoods kit. It has held up nice but it was a pain. Lots of nasty chemicals and swishing a heavy tank around with acid mixtures etc. It probably cost me 50 bucks and lots of time to do it myself. If a shop can do it reasonably you might want to look into that option.

Took my gas tank to the radiator shop, they sent it out and I had a process called RENU applied to it.Basically it coats inside and out with a rubber type coating.

Rick
I recently took my tank to the local radiator shop and had them boil it out and seal it. It cost me $70 dollars.

Rick,
My 641 is the same as your 9n. I just drained the gas tank this afternoon and will be treating mine with POR15 gas tank treatment.
Will report back when it is done(Several day process).

Not affilliated w/POR15

I used the Por-15 last fall and it is time consuming but worked great. If you can get someone else to do it for $70 or so I would recommened that.
