My old 9N sat this winter and I didn't add anyhting to the fuel but I did fill the tank upfull. I put on a new fuel valve and sediment bowl I described. My tractor was sort of sluggish but it started up because it seemd like it took some time for all cylinders to fire up. but it seemed like it took some time for the cold oil to work up and lubricate it because it then started to run on all 4 cylinders ok. But after awhile of putting the throttle up to more rpms it seemd to sputter and cough some but more sputtering. Was this water in the fuel? or bad and old gas from sitting without any thing like the stabil stuff? Then I worked the throttle up and down to low and high rpms and it seemd to sputter and miss less. WHat is worng with my tractor and should I put alcohal in it to remove water if there is any water in it? I love my 9N and it is my only tractor and I am very proud of it. Bill

You should see water in the sediment bowl, if'n there's water in the fuel. We've found that with longterm sitting, unleaded fuel sometimes cloggs up some of the jets in the carb. I think that maybe you could spray some carb. cleaner in the carb intake. Might help.

What you report sure sounds like nasty gas. If'n it were my tractor I would pull a gas line and drain the tank--if you run it through the pickup with a full tank of good gas it should go away. Then I would drain the float bowl at the bottom fitting and put in some new gas. If that doesn't make all better post again and somebody will talk the next step.

Your mileage may vary

Drain the old gas out and try a bottle of heat that stuff works pretty good for getting water out.
