I am trying to start my NAA. It is dead and the solonoid is clicking away and the starter barely turns the engine over but it does turn over but very slowly and it doesn't start.

I have a battery charger, and it is charging the 6V battery for over 1.5 hours w/o any luck it is set at 6V 30amp (the only 6V setting it has). I cleaned the connections all around.

Can I use my battery charger, and switch over to 12V 30 amp, or 12V 10 amp to either charge the battery faster or use it to jump start the tractor?

Questions. can I jump start it at 12V 30amp? it also has a setting for more amps for jump starting (additional to the 12 10 and 30 amp settings) can I use that setting?

Can I jump start right to the starter ? and with that send current to the coil and distributor at the same time?

Or, Can I just connect it right to the battery and set it 12V and push the starter button without burning out the coil or points?

I briefly turned the charger to 12V while starting the push button and the starter wanted to spin fast but the engine was still slow and the solonoid was still clicking away.

I can use sme help.

Dunno what to tell you other than to clean EVERY connection and try her again.

I have an older (20 year plus) Craftsman charger and it has these four settings:
6-volt charge
6-volt start/12-volt lowchg
12-volt charge
12-volt start

I have no idea what this may mean in your case...

Had very similiar symptoms with my Jube a couple of weeks ago. Tightened the Battery cable ground connection at the frame (even though it seemed tight when I tried to wiggle it by hand) and she fired right up. Don't forget if you jump it at the starter you still need enough juice from the battery to provide spark.

The N starter motor draws somewhere between 100 and 200 amps when cranking depending on several factors. Most chargers cannot produce this kind of current. Depending on the type of current limiting you have in your charger, if any, you could blow the fuse or cause other type of damage if you try to start your tractor with the charger attached. Charge your battery in the 6 volt position. If the battery will not charge, buy a new one. Dirty connections can also cause the problem you describe. Ensure you have clean and tight connections.
Happy Motoring

DON'T put 12V to the 6V battery. You can and will blow it up!!!!!
You can put the 12V directly to the starter, dosen't matter which is + or - as the starter will work either way.
I sounds like your battery is not taking the charge. Have yu checked it out with a hydrometer or load meter? Take it out and take it to a batery shop to get it tested.
HTH Jim.

I guess I should disconnect the lead from the battery to the starter solonoid if I direct jump start the starter at 12V? I did it using 6V charger and my charger died. I was letting the starter try to turn over at 6v starter setting and it blanked the bed and clicked off and now won't make a humming sound at 6v. I am going from bad to worse. Would a battery go bad sitting in the tractor over winter? I dont comprehend how it could. I disconnected the + ground wire from the + terminal on the battery and let it dangle too but left the negative lead on ther battery. And there is a bunch of liquid sitting on my battery tray under the battery. Maybe it cracked and went bad? Or maybe my battery is croaked and blanked the bed too? Help thanks.

Richard One of the handiest tools I ever bought was a cheap (toaster element) load tester. Cost me the price of mid range batt. 14 yrs. ago, their still about the same price today. Batteries are much better today but then there were many poor ones around, before then you could see your batt. grinding to a stop but since they are good one min. then dead the next.If your handy enough to do any work for your self it's worth looking into. They will test the batt and can be used to check the started and alt or gen and have 6 & 12 volt scales. Simple to use too.
Good luck Bob

Yes a battery can go bad over a winter. Especially if it sits around discharged it will freeze and crack. If the liquid under the battery is battery acid clean it up before you make a bigger issue.

No need to disconnect anything if you jump it correctly. Lots of posts in the archives about how but make sure you have it in neutral because this defeats the neutral safety and you can get hurt starting it in gear. Just ground one jumper and then touch the other to the starter post with the key on. If this doesn't crank it fast enough to start you have other electrical issues.

Your mileage may vary
