I have family coming in for Thanksgiving and they all want to go on a hay ride since I live in the country. I have a trailer to pull but I have never used the tractor for anything but mowing. How is the best way to connect a trailer to the back of the tractor? I have a 2N with 3 pt connection but if I just put a draw bar on there it wobbles around. Thanks in advance and if anyone has a pic of how to do it I would appreciate it very much.

That drawbar that mounts like a three point implement is OK, but you need to make sure the tongue stays heavy, or it will com right up. On a four wheel wagon, this shouldn't be a problem, but on a two wheeler, when fat aunt betty steps to the rear, everyones gonna join her.

I use a drwabar, and a anti-rotating bracket (lack of a better term) sold at Central tracor for cheap. Plus I use the anti-sway bars, plus the brackets that set the height of the draw bar. This makes a really solid hitch point. Aunt Betty, and anyone that lands on top of her or she lands on appreciate that.

Take Care
Steve

I'm thinking of do the same thing. Just brought a "Drew Bar Lock" at TSC over in Boerne, Texas. SKU 0222220,? Parts Number DD4130, $17.99+ tax. Works for me.

Try this link to see the hitch that I use. It is a bit expensive ($189. + shipping). I have had it for a while. I pull a 5X9 utility trailer loaded with logs/rocks/etc. Works great. I hope the link works. I have not done this before.

Check the archives, I have seen lots of pictures on the 3 pt hitch. I made me a set of sway braces and a draw-bar brace to prevent it from turning. I do have a welder and lots of stuff laying around the farm to make things with. Good luck. You can also look in the tractor implements section of the classifieds, there are some things with pictures on it, also check out the photo gallery. you will see what you need there and can make/get one. You never said where you were from, must be back East. or South.

Thanks for the help guys. I am a born and raised city boy trying to do the country thing :) I appreciate all the help and I guess some things just take common sense. I just didnt want to mess up my hydraulics etc through trial and error if there was an easier way. Best regards

The 11 hole drawbar can be prevented from rotateing by a "locking device" designed specifically for your "problem". It it readily available at tractor parts places for about $15. Stabilizer bars ($10) back to under the fender brackets can stop side to side sway.

Its good to plan ahead for a hay-ride, just remember, tractors only have 2 brakes and trailers usually have none.

Warm, spiced (spiked?) cider is always a greatway to finish off a hayride..... ..Dell
