I have an old JD 8.5' pull type disk. I don't use it very often but know it is a little more than my 2N is used to. I am worried about it snagging on something and flipping the tractor. Would it make sense to attach a drawbar to the tounge and to that weld a top link 3rd point with braces. If I did snag, would this prevent a disaster?

Have you not got the drawbar braces that go from the top hitch point to the drawbar ends? They should do the trick.

If your drawbar is set at the proper height pulling puts down pressure on the front wheels, if they want to lift you have the drawbar set way to high, high drawbar gives more traction but you lose control of stearing, the standard drawbar height is 18" but that may still be too high, I would think 12-14" would be better set so that it would be correct height for pto use.
