I was looking at a tired side distributor 8N with loader for sale on the weekend. Side distributor only came in 1952? Didn't get to talk to the owner but the electrical seems beat. 12V battery and homemade wiring from generator, start relay unattached to starter etc. I have a earlier front distributor 8N. The generator is on the right side. My question is:
Did the generator get moved to the left side to make room for the side distributor? Or is this something the owner did while ruining the rest of the electrical? Thanks

Does anyone have a good photo they could e-mail me of the generator mounting on a 50-52 8n. I think that someone put a longer generator on mine and they had to make new support arms. I can't find a photo in my service manual or owners manual of what the original ones looked like. Thanks, Kenneth

Dextra..... ..1947-50 frontmount 8N's rightside generator, 1950-52 sidemount 8N's leftside generator. And a cobbled up 12 volt conversion by an electrically challenged shadetree mechanic. All fixable..... ..Dell

Its a pretty rusty old girl, someone painted the red parts ford blue at some point in the last 20-30 years. It looks like the owner gave up on the charging system and used a 12v battery to start and then used a battery charger whenever he had to. Oh and he cut the hood to be able to put a bigger battery in. All this and $2800 too. Good rubber though and 16 inch fronts.
