Zane, couple weeks ago I asked for help on a 8N hydraulic problem, you were very helpful. Many thanks. Problem: Lifts, but won't drop. Move quadrant base forward, she drops, but won't lift. ?? Update: Pulled lift cover off, changed cam follower pin (worn about 1/3), adj. everything to manual spec., re-install, no better. ??? Noticed when I re-engaged the long control arm into the hyd. pump valve toggle, the arm didn't move back far enough to lower anything. Felt down inside, noticed the toggle moved back/forth easily, no resistance. Pulled the pump this morn (messy!), found lift valve was stuck halfway in, would come back out enough to stop lifting, put not enough to lower. Dis-assemble, clean, everything looks ok, re-assemble, work valve in/out a few hunded times, seems good, re-install pump, pour in fluid, she works! Plowed 1/4 mile of driveway snow, works better than ever. SO....ever see this before? P.S.: Loved your plowing story. Tell us some more.

That's where I am right now!!! I can't find a happy medium. I checked through the side cover today and the valve is free, and the lever seems to operate it. Last time I tried, I couldn't get any response...regardless of adjustment.

Up till now, everything was going so well! :-(

George, I was doing the same for a while, got real tired of it. I didn't see what was wrong till I stopped to see my local tractor guy, he showed me a correctly operating pump on his bench. That's when I saw that my supply valve didn't come back out like it shoulda done. Can you see through your side cover and confirm that the valves in the pump are moving ALL the way in and out? The supply valve (right side of tractor) should always be touching that pivot arm, even when it's in full drop position. The exhaust valve has a pin connecting it to the pivot, but the supply valve just pushes up against it by spring pressure. If it hangs up half-out, you got the same problem, and I had to pull the pump out to get at it. Good luck!
