Thanks to all for the replies,I found the site.My
8n was a 1952 conv. to 12v & worked great with
the electronic ing. for a year but when I tried to
crank it this year It wouldnt fire,I left the SW
on overnight & the next day I found the module
fried! So Ill go back to points & condenser, there
cheaper to replace.

There is no reason to "fry" an electronic ignition module if the key is left on since it is not like a mechanical set of points that could be closed when on the high side of the lobe cusing continuous current through the coil primary and points. Electronic igntiions only produce a pulse when the reluctor is turning. There must have been some other latent defect to cause your problem.

Don't know the site but if you leave your key on then you'll fry your points.

Paul, I disagree in 2 conditions that will not fry anything, coil or Points

1. If you have a 6V Standard Front Mount with the OEM Ballast the current is < 3 Amps.

2. If you have a Front mount 12V conversion and 6 volt Coil, with OEM ballast in series with icr-13 (or Equiv), the current is < 3 amps.

Those that convert incorrectly or bypass the ballast Resistor run the risk of high current
that will over heat the Coil but burning "GOOD" Points is questionable.

I would look at the points and if the surface has holes/material displacement, that is HI Current.

If the surface's have a pebble appearance, that is LOW current. Most likely caused when the battery died. These points can be repaired.
