Greetings,
When I removed the coil from the front of the 2N and turned it over, the spring on the the bottom of it had only one turn on it. If I'm not mistaken, it has some how been broken and is now less than a quarter of an inch long, and most likely does not contact the brass cup on top of the distributor as it should when it is in place.
Can anyone tell me the approximate lenght of the spring on a coil in good condition? Thanks

Reid, That Pigtail connection is a "WEAK" part of the front mount, even when new. I would cut the wire off an old CAP /COND and solder it to the Pigtail (you have left) and connect other end to the points mounting screw (has copper strip from concave screw) You will need to assemble Coil before you put on the CAP but just make sure the Rotor Spring is pointing such that you can push the cap in and up.

You need to find that broken part of the spring inside DIST.

Hope This Helps,
