Rich..... ...this has been answered many times, you might want to check the "archives" at the top of this most excellent N-Board. Ford manual sez: 1 turn for idle and power jets. BUT for you special..... This is what I'd do. I's set both idle mixture and main power jets to 1 1/2 turns. Idle rpms 1 1/2 turns too. I'm assuming after rebuilding your carb, you're at least familiar which is which? Get it started and warmed up. You may have to use ether quick start into bare carb throat. After running and warmed up, slow the idle speed as low as you feel confortable with. Then MAX the idle mixture speed. Ford idle specs: 400-450 rpms, I say anything under 500. Our modern ears used to high rpm V-8 idle makes the slow 400 rpms sound veeerrrryyyy slooooo owwww. What ever yer confortable with. Then goose the throttle, does the engine pick-up speed? If'n not enrich 1/8 turn at a time until it does. If'n ya can't max the idle adjust, turn down the idle speed on the back of the carb. Keep trying to max the idle mixture. I'd leave the power mainjet at 1 1/2 turns unless yer plowing, then probably 2 turns. I'd rather run rich than lean and burn valves. 'Course if'n yer plowing 20 acres a day, you might have a noticeable bigger fuel bill, but for every day usage, probably never notice..... ..Dell
