I've got two bowed (upwards) radius rods on my 44' 2N and would like to know if anyone has successfully straightened the hollow tubular versions. I'm considering replacing mine with the older 9N I-beam type and would like to get some opinions about whether the these earlier versions are more rigid and structurally robust--they seem to be from my estimation.

I've straightened a few with a 25T press & wooden blocks. Worked A1. Slow & easy is the #1 rule....DaBrow.

I straighten the bent radius rods by attaching my four foot pipe wrench to the front axle beside the radius rod and then attaching my five ton come along to the rear axle trumpet housing and pulling on the pipe wrench handle with the come along. This will straighten the radius rod and not put any other bends or dents in the radius rod. It will go back just exactly like it was with no bows or dents etc.

I have done many this way.

After repairing or replacing, replace yout front axle pivot bushing. Worn bushing will cause them to get bent.

I straightened one of mine with a sledge hammer. Others have reported success using a hydraulic press. I'm wondering if a tailpipe bending machine could be utilized for minor straightening?
I don't think they are as strong as the i-beam type, but with an 8N there is no option. WiIth your 2N there should be no problem fitting a set up there if you can find them. There was a set on ebay not too long ago.
