Do any of you know for sure if they make tubes for 400 x 19 tires that the valve stem is steel, very short, and is bolted in place? That is what i see sticking out of the other front tire. I would like to match what is on the other side. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Patrick, YES!! There is a tube with a short, metal, bolt in place stem. It's for a motorcycle! Should work OK. Jim

that is a tubless valve stem. It is also evidently a tubless tire. If both tires are the same, you might try pulling the one off and installing the steel stem. Better make sure that it is tubless tho. There may not even be a tube in it, just a rubber stem.

They do make tubes with steel stems most are what they call water tubes made for loading I have them on mine also had them on a uniloader that I had they are nice as they will not break off like regular tubes do if you hit the stem on somthing I got mine at the goodyear store in ohio.

Thanks! I will call Good Year in the morning. I like the stem on the other tire cause it is very short(barely long enough for the air chuck to push on far enough to add air).

That is what i thought too. The one with the tubeless stem is an old rim that i welded a patch plate on for the valve stem, and it got a new tire. That was 10 year ago, and i can not really believe that i let them put it together with on tube. Now i got a new rim and a like new tire for the other side. Today when i got home and went to put it no i found that it was flat. Tomorrow i will have to have tube put in it. I was hoping against hope that there was a steel stem tube out there. Oh well.

Isn't the valve stem on a tube made of steel - or at least metal? The valve core is threaded into the stem, right?

Now I'm not sure how it is "bonded" together. But I had a new tube fail because the metal part of the stem came out of the rubber surrounding it.

FWIW
:-)
