I've just arrived home from the hospital. Was there visiting a very good friend who's in extreme pain and probably awaiting surgery on three discs in neck. He is a daily visitor to the board here, although he rarely posts, but when he does ,you would know him as Kevin in N.B. This guy is as good a husband, father, worker and friend as you'll ever meet! Also,he's the proud owner of one of the first '47 8N's,very knowledgable on these ole tractors and has been tremendous help to me with my old N. He did comment at the hospital tonite that he really missed keeping updated with you great guys here on the board...so I got to thinkin that if it wasn't outa line maybe a couple of you might respond to this with a short encouraging word, addressed to Kevin in N.B...Ican print the response and deliver to him. Although I am sure he will not approve of me drawing this attention to him,I believe your comments will be much appreciated...thank you for your patience in tis rather long O.T. request..... Randy in N.B.

Hi Kevin in N.B.

Reminds me of a scene I saw in an old black and white movie.

A man's doctor told him to keep his head tilted back. He went outside and began walking down the street. Everyone around him was looking up to the sky to see what he was looking at.

Take care. Darrel(ok)

Southern NY wishes you a speedy recovery too! Weather is still a bit too nippy to enjoy being outside for very long, so rest and recuperate. Bob in NY

Twenty years ago this kind of surgery was life threatning. Today ain't no big deal. You may still get a few licks in on the tractor this summer.

Hey Randy, tell Kevin we are all thinking of him and wishing a speedy recovery. Also tell him that he's lucky that he doesn't have to deal with an American HMO up there in New Brunswick. A buddy of mine was just in the hospital, and he's got HMO coverage. Nurse walked in, told him he needed an enema, but his HMO didn't cover the procedure anymore, so she was gonna have to slap the sh!t out of him instead!!

LOL..... ...Ed

Tell him to hurry up and get on back on the forum so I can tell him my theory about the 47 8N and the fact that I saw Elvis a couple of days ago in my pea patch. :O)

I have seen quiet a few people have the neck vertibret fixed and they seem to do better than the ones who have lower back surgery. Hope that he gets recouperated and in back telling about the stiches etc before long.

Hang in there N friend. I had the surgery several years ago and it worked fine. Thank the Lord that they can do more and have more success with the neck than they do with the lower back. I was especially supprised to learn that there was very little pain involved. You will have to get use to the neck brace for a while and being in any kind of a moving vehicle is out of the question. ( you can't take the jarring and shaking) You will be up and aroung in a short while. I'll add you to my prayers just for insurance.

Kevin, always appreciated the comments and responses to the questions and topics on the board. No one ever wants surgery, but as to the neck, it often solves alot of problems. As a "victim's rights" attorney, I've known lots of folks who have had neck surgery. The good news is that I've never known anyone who wasn't helped by the surgery. One of my clients even went on to become a world champion senior weight lifter. I wish you the best of luck, a speedy recovery and hope your back posting help for other folks soon. Sincerely,
Screamer
