Hiya guys,

Got my shiny new throttle plate & springs to replace on my ole' 8N. Question is, how do you get the rod to release from the base of the shaft?
I can easily get it off of the line to the governor etc. but it must be locked in place by something else on the shaft.

I need to pull that out so I can replace the lever/rod, the springs & the plate on the dash. After a recent governor complete rebuild, it must have tightened things up with regard to the tension from the governor. (gotta hold the throttle position with my hands now, it won't just "stay" in position) My throttle plate is completely worn out with very little visable bumps left on it for holding the throttle position. Seems like some adjustment and/or replacement of these parts will help.

Let me know if any of you can shed some light on this entire process and thanks in advance!

Regards,
Andy

Andy Greg is right ,but also you might want to remove the ball in the throttle lever, this is what rides on the throttle plate ( those little bumps that are wore out )the ball is no more than a ball bearing ,you can replace it with one of appropriate size or just turn it around and reinstall!! Andy,
Your lever at the bottom of the shaft should be "pinched" on with a bolt. There is also a small flat on the shaft for the bolt to rest against for lever orientation. After removing that bolt you might have to spread that lever apart a little. Unbolt your down tension spring bracket and you ought to be in business.
