Fuel leak?

I recently discovered that my 8N has a fuel leak. If it sits for more than a couple days the fuel tank is empty. I tried turning off the valve at the bottom of the tank, which apparently doesn't work. I know that because the tractor runs just fine with it off and the leak continues. :(

But here's my real question. The leak seems to be coming from around the carburetor where the large hose from the air filter comes in. I suspect the gas is just filtering down through the carb and out on the air hose side. I'm not much of a carb guy. Any suggestions?

I would say that you need a new shut-off and a carb overhaul. The first is a must. The second you can live without for awhile (if you need to).

Sounds like the float is sticking?

Like I said, I'm not much on tearing apart a carb. Is a sticking float a difficult thing to fix? Would the tractor run OK, if the float was sticking, cuz it does.
