According to my serial number(8N28807)I have a '47.So,why does my tractor have the later style steering gear...sector covers with adjusting screws? It appears to be a early 8N with the exception of the steering gear.It also has a Sherman tansmission(cable style)that is frozen...been soaking it with liquid wrench...no luck freeing it up so far.I paid $500.00 for this tractor which also came with a front loader.

You serial number designates a 1950 8N. If your serial number started with a 9 instead of an 8 then you would have a 1947 2N. Check the link to verify.

The serial number is 28807 - that's five digits, not 6, which WOULD make it a 1947 8N.

It would be a 1950 if it began with 288 and was a SIX digit number.

My head is in a cold remedy haze. Spent yesterday just trying to breathe. I was sure I was seeing a 6 digit serial number. Sorry.

My #8n 206992 had old style steering box until I changed it out with the newer style being the adjusting screws. Great deal on your new "N">
