Now what. always started like a true N. almost done. 6 v to coil and no spark, put in spare and same thing. Going gray trying to finish this thing up and get ready for spring. Should I sell? Have manual but discusted. Any advice? TIA for the help always.

Turns over like new, new starter, generator and VR. After installing all I checked the charging rate which was 6.25 battery voltage. Shut tractor off to fix bad ground at VR. Went to start and just turns over, fuel good but no spark. Really can't believe it because it has been starting indoors at my shop and always since I bought it, never a problem. I'm sure its in the distributor but can't still believe it. From one minute to the next that the points went without a sign or miss. TY for the reply. Paul

Had a similar problem, batt wouldn't chagne and on day it just quit on me, could not get it to spark even with a night on the charger etc. Replaced the 6v system with a 12v still had no joy.

Turned out I had a bad generator and also my points were going bad. Suggest you try a new condenser and point setup. fixed me right up. Even with a front mount dist like mine it was not that hard in hindsight.

Points are not that expensive either.

Replaced vr and generator, both checked out bad, vr might have been alright now that it wasn't properly grounded. Still replaced with new one since I had it. Have front mount coil. ty, paul

Just redid regulator and generator on a Jubilee - turned out the wiring harness had so many joins it was very weak. Replaced it, ammeter and ignition switch and works fine now. This worked for me - maybe for you too.
