I finished a rebuild and paint job an my 8n this week. Its given me about a year of enjoyment tinkering with the old girl. I gave my shop a long over due cleaning and organized my tools, checked tire pressure (on every vehicle), checked the string on all of my duck decoys, adjusted the tool rests on my grinder, ground the mushrooms off my cold chisels, sharpend the lawnmower blades eventhough there is a foot of new snow in the yard, I'm going nuts! I have the same feeling I get when I finish a good book, a little depressed it is all over, but not ready to start a new book. I've got my eye on an H farmall that they want too much for or a 52 ford f1 pick-up that needs too much work. I'm about ready to take up knitting! Does this happen to any of you?

Heh,

You're in luck. Ya just need a little vacation. Come to my place. I'll take you fishing for a few big rockfish and then my wife has this small honey-do list. Bet we can keep ya busy and messy with the projects around here.

Seriously, congratulations on completing your 8N!

I ought to be four times as satisfied, then! I can't even get into the garage for the tools and tractor parts scattered around. I did manage to get a little 8N work done the other night, between rebuilding my rototiller engine and trying to get my chainsaw and weedwhacker running.

I got the floor joists down this weekend for a 12 X 24 shop I'm making out of a couple of horse stalls. Got rained out of picking up the plywood for the floor on Sunday. So I was a little frustrated. Then I'll have to deal with the ceiling, lights, electrical. Not an easy job for a jackleg carpenter/electrician like me, but I can't wait to get my shop tools and gear organized. I even ordered the plans for Norm Abrams classic woodworkers bench. Then it's the raised garden beds for my wife, replace the fence on the dam, rebuild the front end of the 8N, finish rebuilding the Farmall H engine, etc.,etc. And keep up with the mowing now that spring's almost here. I tell my wife I don't have time for a full time real job but I don't get any sympathy...lol.

My poor new shop has been cleaned 6 times in 6 months! It has had 6 tractors go thru there in a row! My nice new concrete is not so new now and I don't feel bad about spilling oil on it. The rafters need a good blowing out for the dust from cleaning parts up. That will have to wait till I can take everything out side and get the leaf blower in there and blow the whole thing clean again! Mark H.

I got fanatical and cleaned my basement workshop after a project. Expoxied the floor, put a new top on my work bench and reorganized the whole thing. Went to the barn and clean it (with the help of my 19 year old son). Reorganized and threw out a lot of junk. Even bought a little bench arbor press.

Now everything looks so nice, I hate to mess it up, so been sitting back and watching the Red Wings head for the Stanley Cup.

I think the cleanliness will be short lived, as I don't think any of us permanently run out of projects.

JU
