Well I went and did it! I bought my 8n in the beginning of the year and with winter fast approaching I decided to take care of the cooling system so I drained her and added water and a bottle of radiator cleaner. The stuff really works well, cleaned out all the stop leak that was holding the thing together, and now I have several leaks in the core. Question is how does the price of an aftermarket compare to getting the origanal recored? Also if I do get it recored are there any advantages/disadvantages of getting it renecked and converting to a pressurized system? This is a working machine not a trailer queen so originality is not a big deal.

Pitch,
This guy seems to always have a radiator for sale on ebay. Don't know anything about him or his product.. Maybe somebody else on this board has had some experience with him and can give feedback

Pitch, Most of the tractors up here are 50 to 60 years old, most have been worked hard for many years and done well with the non-pressurized system. One problem might be if it gets more pressure you could be finding those small cracks that may be fine rihgt now. Like so many have said on these boards "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Ask your local radiator shop how much they would charge to recore then check prices on aftermarket ones.

For me, it was the same price to have mine re-cored/rebuilt as it was to buy a new one. It was in really bad condition. I went to several radiator repair facilities to get prices. Every place told me that I should check into replacing the radiator instead of them rebuilding the old one. Bought a new one for around $170. Fit perfect and had no problems with it. While I had it apart, I also changed the water pump and thermostat.

Hi Pitch:

I just bought a new Radiator from "Farm and County" $189.00. Fit perfect. Old one had to be the orginal. Also put in new thermstat, 160 degree.
